A review of The Crop Shop by Mini moo written on Tuesday 18th of August 2009
I've been and had my hair cut at the Crop Shop when it used to be opposite the Bell Hotel and where it is now along Castle Meadow.
The first two experiences were horrendous. The first lady cut my jair NOTHING like the picture i showed her (it was straight, one-length, shoulder -length hair and I emerged from the salon with a wonky, hacked-into pixie cut. I was not happy! The second visit (I was willing to forgive and forget the last time) was a bit better, but I found the hairdresser rude.
Third time, just after Christmas and before New Years Eve, I went along to the new place, the girl on the reception seemed confident, but didn't really know what she was doing, dropping the telephone on the floor numerous times. We wanted a walk-in £10 cut, which I assumed was what most people wanted when they come in off the street and say they want their hair cutting. We were told to come back in 45 minutes. Fine, no worries. But upon our return we were told it would be £15 since we booked a time and asked to see a certain stylist (which we didn't, we were told who and when!!) Arggh. Anyway, went ahead with the haircut (my ends needing slicing off, very dry) - the washers were pretty uninterested in making conversation and were talking amoungst themselves, then starting chucking towels over the people who's hair was beig washed into nearby laundry bins. Hmm. However, one ray of sunshine was the lady who finally cut my hair. I cannot remeber her name, but she did a great job (it was merely a straight cut, about an inch or so) and a straightened, but she was friendly, quick and efficient.
Probably won't be going back again, even though it is very very good value. I would rather pay more and be assured I was going to get a good cut and good service..
