A review of Black Horse by Neil written on Monday 10th of March 2008
I had not been to this pub since the change over - under the previous ownership, this pub was a bear pit. What a difference a name makes. With new names above the door and a much fresher and exciting menu, all I can say is WOW!
From the moment you walk in the door, it feels inviting, a place where you meant to find yourself. It has it's busy nights, with some great live music - Zoo were a great 80s vocal group and well worth a listen to.
The menu has dramatically changed. There are still some of the traditional pub menu items, but then you can almost forget you are in a pub when there are some quite a-la-carte choices and as for the desserts, they can rival any fancy pants eaterie in London.
The service from behind the bar and the restaurant staff was top notch, you can tell the staff enjoy being there, which is infectious. The new owners are very friendly too.
This is a pub where you can be left on your own or be consumed by and be a welcomed part of the friendly buzz and atmosphere - needs to be put on the map, a definite place to try, again and again and again..
