"Extremely Nervous Patient survives root canal treatment!!"

Firstly, I must point out that I am an extremely nervous patient who loathes having to go to the dentist.

I recently had an infection which resulted in my having to visit Orford Hill Dental Surgery. Upon examination I was advised that I would need root canal treatment and an appointment was booked for 12 days time.

I turned up on the day of my appointment extremely anxious about the treatment I was about to receive, as I have never had root canal treatment done before (often opting for an extraction instead!) and I had heard from several people that it was an extremely uncomfortable proceedure.

I must say that the dentist treating me (the very nice south african man - can't remember his name) who is aware of my nervousness, immediately put me at ease and throughout the treatment he continued to make sure that I was okay.

If only I had known that root canal treatment was not as painful as I had been led to believe, I would not have had 3 teeth extracted in the past.

I believe that it is understanding dentists that help nervous patients like myself, not so much overcome my fear, but at least enable me to deal with it any treatment that is necessary.
