A review of The Woodman by Gaz Jam written on Friday 9th of April 2010
We frequented this hostelry just this evening. The service was very good with the staff being very attentive.
We had different starters that were both of good standard and very well presented.
We both went for the steak and chips for our mains. The steaks were well cooked exactly as we ordered them. For local produce though, they were quite tastless, they were both medium rare so should have been quite distinctively local in taste.
The onion rings tasted quite greasy and the home made chips were also quite greasy.
The clientel in the restaurant seemed afflicted to the word sh*t. This was two seperate couples whjo didn 't seem bothered at offending other diners.
On the way out of the restaurant another customer with his wife made a derogatory comment on my ability to read a menu on the wall. This was a couple in their 50's and quite respectably looking.
In summary,if you have a local accent give it a go, if you are from afar give this place a wide berth as the locals are inhospitable and rude..
